The pulmonologist has been daily evaluating Dad's readiness to have his breathing tube removed this week. He is taking a conservative approach, and while Dad is receiving minimal support from the ventilator and is initiating all the breaths himself, the pulmonologist still feels like it will benefit Dad to remain on the ventilator for a little longer. He performed a tracheostomy today so that he can still be provided any remaining ventilator support he needs, but it will be more comfortable. They are also beginning preparation for his discharge to a long-term acute care facility in the Phoenix-Metro area. That may happen in the next few days.
Please pray that Dad continues to regain strength and continued healing of his body in every way. Please pray that there are no neurological deficits. Please pray for a safe transport to the next facility where he will be given care. Please pray that he will continue receiving excellent care and support in his next facility and for continued wisdom for the new doctors and staff who will be caring for him. Please pray for his peace and comfort while we cannot be with him. Please pray for our peace and comfort as we miss him tremendously.
This is a challenging and difficult time for our family emotionally. It is a day by day process for us. As this process is slow and will be a long time to come, the updates may be several days or even a week apart. We cannot express our thanks enough for everyone's continued support. We have great faith in our Lord and in the doctors who he has put Rob in the care of. We humbly request that you continue to refrain from texting for updates on Rob's condition. It becomes an additional emotional strain to receive and feel responsible for responding to so many texts. We will continue to post updates as they become available.
God is good and we will see miracles as Rob continues on the road to complete health. Love to you all as you struggle with each phase of this long journey. We will keep you all in our prayers.
ReplyDeletePraying as requested. I continue to remember you all multiple times per day.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear he continues to improve even if he's not off the ventilator yet. Baby steps.
ReplyDeleteContinuing prayers for his full recovery and for all of you, as well as for those who are caring for him.
Thank you for being vigilant and faithful in your updates. It helps me know how to pray for all of you. I will inform my prayer warrior group of the changes. Did Rob get to see the game? I hope my comment comes through this time. The last couple have not shown up when I have checked back.
